Location: Falmouth, MA 02540
Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: 40 Hours/Week
- Shifts: 7:15 AM – 3:45 PM or 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM
- Rotating weekends, weekday, and holiday on-call required
Position Overview
"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to support a variety of surgical procedures in a fast-paced operating room environment. This role works under the direct supervision of the surgeon and registered nurse to ensure a safe, sterile, and efficient surgical setting while delivering high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain the operating room, ensuring all instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready for procedures
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control policies and sterile techniques in accordance with AORN standards
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, holding retractors, cutting sutures, and managing sterile supplies
- Perform surgical counts (sponges, needles, instruments) with accuracy
- Prepare, handle, and label specimens for laboratory analysis
- Assist with patient positioning, transport, and transfer to recovery
- Ensure availability of case-specific instruments and equipment per surgeon preference cards
- Operate and maintain surgical equipment including lights, suction, and sterilization systems
- Assist with room turnover and restocking between procedures
- Support medication preparation under RN and surgeon direction
- Collaborate with surgical team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and ongoing professional development
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program (civilian or military)
- NBSTSA Certification (required and must be maintained)
- BLS Certification (required)
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and infection control standards
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, high-pressure environment
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
Preferred Qualifications
- Orthopedic (Ortho) surgical experience strongly preferred
