Position Summary

The AIB Support Technician is responsible for performing a variety of heavy cleaning, landscaping, snow removal, and equipment maintenance tasks to maintain the American Institute of Baking (AIB) standards. This maintenance includes but is not limited to parking areas, walkways, warehouse, stairwells, office, conference rooms, and other assigned areas in a clean, sanitary, safe, and in good operating condition in accordance with maintenance and cleaning procedures, pest control, and safety policies.


The AIB Support Technician will have responsibility for tactical development and hands-on execution of all routine and specialty cleaning. The individual will be cross-trained to work as a backup to Facilities Operations, providing support and/or coverage during absences. Play a lead role with the GBFB’s cleaning and pest control vendors and be active in maintaining the Green Building Council’s LEED Silver Certification of GBFB’s 117,000 SQFT energy-efficient building.


Role & Responsibilities

  • Ensure American Institute of Baking (AIB) standards are maintained.
  • Adhering to all safe work practices while working efficiently with minimal direct supervision.
  • Performing heavy and specialized cleaning tasks throughout the building and grounds.
  • Leadership role in coordinating GBFB cleaning and pest control vendors.
  • Assist Facilities with equipment maintenance & lubrication, filter replacement, motor replacement, v-belt replacement, etc., as needed.
  • Provide service coverage of the facilities operation during the absences.
  • Landscaping tasks (grass cutting, weed trimming, snow removal, spreading of ice melt, etc.) when necessary, and including overtime nights and weekends as needed for weather-related coverage.
  • Assisting team members in other functional areas of the warehouse and/or office
  • Communicating ideas and issues of concern promptly and making positive suggestions for improvement.
  • On an ongoing basis, ensure that all work, activities, and programs continue to support and enhance GBFB's LEED Silver and AIB certification.
  • Completing facility upkeep, painting, and other building repair tasks.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Skills & Qualifications


  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Three or more years of cleaning and sanitation experience.
  • Integrated Pest Management (IPM) experience.
  • Genuine appreciation of GBFB’s mission and the ability to communicate it.
  • Food industry experience.
  • Good writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills and able to send and receive emails. (Salesforce knowledge a plus).
  • Cleaning and sanitation skills with 3 or more years of experience.
  • Strategic thinking, with the ability to multitask facilities and AIB duties.
  • Mechanical and/or Electrical skills are a plus.
  • Provide services pleasantly and professionally.
  • Skilled in the safe use of power tools for ground maintenance and snow removal.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Demonstrates the required digital competencies that result in the effective usage of the full range of digital technologies at GBFB.

  • Ability to work in an office environment.

  • Ability to work in different temperatures for ambient, cooler, and frozen foods.
  • Willingness to learn to operate material handling equipment and obtain certification.
  • Ability to work with hand and powered equipment at heights up to 30' or more above the floor.
  • Ability to hear and work in an environment with noises typical in a warehouse environment, including horns, backup alarms, and flashing lights.


Work Location

  • Onsite: This role follows a fully in-person and on-site schedule. This means incumbents in this role will be required to work each workday from an assigned office work location, including GBFB headquarters (70 South Bay Ave) and possibly any other work-related sites.
