Position Overview: The Wellness Nurse (Licensed Practical Nurse) plays a crucial role in supporting the Resident Services Director in the effective delivery, coordination, and implementation of Resident Care Services within the community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the Resident Services Department staff, including Certified Nursing Assistants (C.N.A.s).
• Aid in managing the medication program and assist residents with self-medication.
• Foster positive relationships with residents, their families, and healthcare providers.
• Report any significant incidents or changes in residents' needs to the Executive Director or Resident Services Director.
• Assist in completing resident assessments and developing service plans.
• Support clinical assessments and recertifications in accordance with ALSA requirements.
• Collaborate with the Resident Services Director in hiring and managing departmental performance.
• Participate in the training and orientation of new staff members.
• Attend scheduled in-service training sessions and team meetings.
• Help with the scheduling and staffing of Resident Services Assistants as necessary.
• Provide coaching and mentorship to staff within the Resident Services Department.
• Support residents and their families to ensure a high level of satisfaction.
• Assist in supervising RSA staff during care provision.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Adhere to emergency protocols.
• Understand and implement safety practices and procedures.

Communication:

• Effectively communicate with supervisors and colleagues.
• Maintain positive relationships with residents, families, peers, and other staff members.
• Promote a constructive work environment.

Education/Experience/Licensure/Certification:

• Current Licensed Practical Nurse license in the relevant state(s).
• Certification in basic first aid and CPR.
• Minimum of two years of full-time or equivalent clinical experience.
• Preferred experience in assisted living or long-term care settings.
• Interest or experience in working with seniors is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be in good physical and emotional health, free from communicable diseases.
• Ability to bend and reach as necessary.
• Capable of pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 lbs. when required.
• Able to stand for extended periods.
• Proficient in transferring residents and using a Hoyer Lift and other medical equipment as needed.

Miscellaneous:

• Availability to work weekends and holidays as assigned.
• May need to work shifts other than the one initially assigned.
• Potential for extended hours as required.
• May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions.
• Could encounter residents who are hostile or emotionally distressed due to their mental state.
