Job Description

Lotus Academy is a project-based, progressive, mixed-aged classroom school. Our school is new, and as such, our classroom sizes are small. We are looking for experienced teachers who pride ourselves on creating and delivering high-impact lessons, differentiated to engage all learners in the classroom. We encourage extensions and are not limited by a grade level but rather by a student’s individual abilities.

If you enjoy creating curriculum, are passionate about teaching elementary-aged children, and have at least two years of ELEMENTARY classroom teaching experience in a classroom setting (not an after-school) we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities:

Support the lead teacher in daily classroom activities and instruction for a hybrid Kindergarten/1st grade class
Create appropriate units and lesson plans
Lead small group activities and, at times, lead the entire class in the absence of the lead teacher.
Foster a nurturing and supportive atmosphere where children feel safe to explore and learn.
Demonstrate professionalism in the work environment
Supervise students during lunch and recess duties (additional hours optional)
Collaborate effectively with the lead teacher and other staff members.

Schedule: This is a part-time position with the following hours:

Two days per week: 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Three days per week: 8:30 AM - 11:00 AM
Lunch and recess duty: 11:30-1:30 every day

Qualifications:

A minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience with elementary-aged children is required.
Demonstrated ability to confidently engage students and lead classroom activities.
Exceptional patience and a genuine love for working with young children.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A commitment to the values and mission of Lotus Academy.
Please note: While a teaching certificate is not required for this position, applicants must have elementary teaching experience. This is not a job for a Pre-school teacher.
