Job Description

The Shipper I is responsible for coordinating the movement of goods from one location to another, ensuring they are accurate and efficient shipping operations, including order fulfillment, packaging, and load management under the direction of the Supervisor of Shipping and Trimming.

Essential Job Functions

Follow written instructions.
Engage in mathematical calculations.
Engage in rational thoughts and decision making and make independent decisions / judgement.
Manually count product and pack for shipment.
Use of electronic scale to weigh and count smaller / larger sized quantity parts.
Use of label machine to prepare labels per customer specification.
Participate in physical inventory.
Process material transactions in the DBA manufacturing system.
Move manufacturing overruns to upstairs storage area.
Maintain company property, supplies and equipment in a manner that demonstrates ownership and accountability.
Comply with corporate and site policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent.
Trade school or work experience.
At least 18 years of age.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Strong written and verbal communication.
Must read, write and speak English.
Strong computer skills to accurately process orders and to ensure accurate tracking and shipment of goods.
Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist, reach above and below shoulders and lift for extended periods.
Ability to work on basic math skills in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Demonstrated manual dexterity to handle, pack, and label items efficiently.
Must have good vision or corrective vision.
Must demonstrate strong attention to detail.
Ability to work in varying environmental conditions such as heat, cold, noise, etc.
Effectively prioritize tasks.
Work individually to support team and department success.
Strong organization skills with ability to multitask.
Lift, pull or push up to 35 lbs.
Flexible work hours, available to and capable of working overtime.
Capable of operating a manual pallet jack.

Safety:

Must report any safety concerns to your supervisor.
Must report any hygiene concerns to your supervisor.
Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn, including but not limited to safety glasses/goggles, earplugs, and safety shoes.
Recommends safety improvements to supervisors or committee members.
Understands all safety policies and procedures.
Ability to safely use step ladders, consistently maintaining 3 points of contact (two hands/one foot or two feet/one hand) while ascending, descending, and working.
