Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

As a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, you will work onsite, collaborating with dedicated colleagues and families to foster student growth and independence.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active Visually Impaired (VI) Teacher License and MA Department of Education (DOE) License
  • Successful completion of all required MTELs
  • Experience or thorough understanding of needs and strategies for teaching students with visual impairments
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to individualized instruction and inclusive educational practices

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Providing direct and consultative instructional services for students with visual impairments
  • Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams—including teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers—to support student success
  • Adapting classroom materials and curriculum for accessibility
  • Monitoring and documenting student progress
  • Offering guidance and support to families and school staff regarding adaptive technology and accessibility tools
