Pine Haven Boys Center is set on just over 100 acres located 10 minutes south of Concord and 15 minutes north of Manchester.
We are looking for candidates who are interested in beginning or continuing a career in the Human Services field. The ideal candidate is interested in modeling and teaching healthy life skills and behaviors for kids using trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches.
Pine Haven is a private, non-profit, non-sectarian, intensive residential facility that cares for boys with behavioral, educational, and emotional challenges due to severe neglect and trauma.
Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Lead Residential Counselor to join our team. As a Lead Residential Counselor, you will provide support and ensure a therapeutic environment for children who have experienced trauma, abuse and neglect. You will also be responsible for leading the residential staff as needed during shifts. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others.
Responsibilities

Ensure the safety, ethical treatment, and well-being of residents at all times

Acting as a positive role model for residents while teaching daily living and leisure skills

Promote resident rights

Develop and maintain appropriate and constructive relationships with the children

Create and maintain a therapeutic environment

Organize and participate in recreational activities
-
Managing kids when they become dysregulated by using de-escalation skills and other therapeutic, safe methods as needed

Respond to emergencies and provide first aid as needed
Skills
-
Experience working with children with behavioral challenges is preferred

Knowledge of working with children with trauma

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Compassionate and patient demeanor
Schedule
Our schedule runs in two groups:

Sunday–Wednesday
-
Wednesday–Saturday
Weekday shifts typically go from 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM, and weekend shifts run 8:00 AM – 11:00 PM.
Holidays and school vacation days will mirror the weekend shifts.
Qualifications

Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age

A Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services field is preferred. Associate's Degrees in combination with five years of experience in a similar setting will be considered

Must possess the verbal techniques necessary to deescalate a crisis situation and the physical ability to control aggressive, violent behavior in a therapeutic, safe way

Must be able to become certified in Crisis Prevention Intervention, First Aid, CPR, and any other interventions pertaining to your position or required by your supervisor

This position requires evening, weekend, and holiday availability. This is mostly a second shift schedule, with typical shifts running from 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM on weekdays and 8:00 or 9:00 AM – 11:00 PM on weekends and holidays
