About This Role
We're seeking a dedicated and caring individual to join our team at the Boys & Girls Club in Pittsfield, NH as an After School Group Leader. This part-time position offers the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and be part of a fun and supportive team. This position is available from August through the end of the school year, with the possibility of summer work at one of our summer camps.
What You'll Do
Fostering Youth Development
- Creates an environment that enables youth to achieve their full potential by delivering day-to-day activities that meet their needs and interests.
- Promotes program participation and engagement among youth through the delivery of age-appropriate activities that meet established program expectations.
- Assists new members in familiarizing themselves with the Club's daily schedule and program expectations.
- Provides guidance, role modeling, and constructive feedback to support youth development and skill-building in program areas.
- Demonstrates leadership by adhering to safety and licensing best practices to ensure a safe environment for youth.
- Ensures accurate attendance records for youth in their assigned group.
- Maintains the cleanliness and organization of program spaces.
Program Implementation and Supervision
- Effectively implements and administers programs, services, and activities that cater to the needs and interests of youth.
- Monitors and evaluates programs to ensure safety, quality, and compliance with Club standards.
- Ensures that program areas are well-maintained and that equipment is in good working condition.
- Tracks program outcomes and makes adjustments as needed to meet the needs of youth.
- Documents incidents and issues that arise during program operation.
- Communicates effectively with families, staff, and youth.
- Participates in staff meetings and special events.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be 18 years of age or older and have a minimum of 600 hours working in a school-age program.
- Must have documentation of at least 3 credits in child development, education, recreation, or another field of study focused on children, awarded by a regionally accredited college or university.
- Employees who are 19 years of age may be assigned to the senior program.
- Knowledge of youth development.
- Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
- Ability to communicate with parents/guardians.
- Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth.
- Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
- Must obtain CPR and First Aid Certifications in order to meet Bureau of Childcare licensing requirements.
- Occasional travel for meetings/training, etc. may be required.
- May be asked to drive Club van/short bus occasionally. (21 plus years of age only)
- Must possess a safe driving record and submit a copy of such record to either the Operations Director or Human Resources Generalist.
Additional Expectations:
- All of the candidates that are offered a job with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central and Northern New Hampshire will have to submit for an FBI fingerprint background check and submit to a background check through the State of NH Criminal Records Dept. and FirstAdvantage. Note: The State of NH Childcare Licensing Bureau may prohibit you from being employed by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central and Northern New Hampshire should there be a disqualifying finding on your criminal record. In addition, even if the State of NH reviews your records and allows you to work at the Club, we still reserve the right to determine your employment status.
