POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the Human Resources functions at the West Groton facility, partnering closely with plant management to support an employee-oriented high-performance culture, emphasizing safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement. This includes onboarding/offboarding, administration of policies, union contract and grievance administration, and all activities that affect positive, plant-wide employee relations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Partner closely with plant management as a trusted HR advisor on business and workforce decisions, while also serving as a liaison and advisor to H&V employees at our West Groton location.
- Responsible for the staffing process by proactively and continually sourcing, interviewing, developing, and maintaining an effective candidate pipeline and network of talent to fill West Groton Plant positions. Involved in all aspects of the hiring process: sourcing applicants, participating in interviews, processing background checks, and conducting new employee orientations.
- Partner with line managers to resolve employee issues and provide guidance related to employee conflict resolutions.
- Timecard and payroll review for plant.
- Advise, guide and support employees in areas of policy, procedure, and employee relations.Investigate employee issues and recommend appropriate action.
- Participate in the development of company policies and make sure they are administered fairly and consistently throughout the area of responsibility.
- Partner with plant management to identify, recommend, and drive continuous improvement initiatives within HR processes, policies, and practices that support the facility’s safety, quality, and productivity goals.
- Closely collaborate and effectively communicate within the department and with other H&V HR team members at other locations, working together to share best practices and drive continuous improvement across the HR function.
- Assist Plant Management in union contract interpretation and administration. Act as the second step in the grievance procedure process. Participate in CBA negotiations.
- Workday Administration
- Responsible for all transactions of the Workday system for local HR, including entering new hire and termination data and maintaining the accuracy of all employee data files.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
\n

- Bachelor’s degree plus 5+ years of Human Resources experience in a union environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR) a plus.
- Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including employee relations, performance management, succession management, engagement, workforce planning, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and applicable federal and state employment laws.
- Comfort using AI-enabled HR technology and digital tools (e.g., Workday, applicant tracking systems, and generative AI applications) to support recruiting, reporting, and administrative efficiency, along with the ability to quickly learn new HR systems.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
\n
\n

- Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for extended periods
- Frequent use of hands for typing, filing, and operating standard office equipment (computer, phone, copier/scanner)
- Ability to walk periodically throughout the office and occasionally onto the manufacturing floor.
- Ability to stand and walk for short to moderate periods during floor visits, plant tours, safety walkthroughs, or new-hire orientations
- Occasional lifting of up to 10-25 lbs. (personnel files, onboarding materials, supplies)
- Ability to communicate clearly in person, by phone, and in writing/video calls.
- Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to read documents, view a computer screen, and hear/respond to safety instructions or alarms while on the floor
- Compliance with all posted safety requirements and PPE when in manufacturing areas.
