Job Title: AI Prompt Engineer (Hybrid)
- Location: Boston, MA (Hybrid – 3+ days onsite/week)
- Pay Rate: $62.94 – $97.90/hr (W2 only)
- Contract Length: 12 Months
- Shift: Monday–Friday, 1st Shift (Flexible Hours)
- Interview Process: 2–3 rounds (virtual/onsite)
- Background Check: Required
About the Role:
A top-tier Boston-based university is seeking a skilled AI Prompt Engineer to join their enterprise technology team. In this hybrid role, you will work onsite with internal stakeholders at least three days per week, contributing directly to the design and optimization of large language model (LLM) applications used across IT, administrative, and academic functions.
This 12-month contract offers a unique opportunity to shape AI strategy and support the university’s efforts to scale AI-powered services across departments.
Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and refine high-quality prompts for enterprise AI tools

Test prompt strategies to ensure consistent and accurate LLM outputs

Collaborate with IT and administrative teams to tailor AI interactions for support services

Monitor AI performance and identify areas for improvement

Develop and maintain prompt engineering documentation and libraries

Support the creation of training materials and participate in AI security assessments

Provide occasional off-hours support to resolve critical AI issues
Required Qualifications:

Minimum 2 years of experience in prompt engineering or LLM-focused AI work in enterprise settings

Proficiency in natural language processing (NLP) and conversational AI

Experience with testing frameworks and performance tuning of AI systems

Strong collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical teams

Clear and concise written and verbal communication

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Linguistics, Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, etc.); Master’s preferred
