Job DescriptionJOB TITLE: Machine OperatorHOURS: Monday through Friday, 7:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M., 3:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M. or 11:00 P.M. to 7:00 A.M.
LIST OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Ability to lift shafts up to 90 pounds (48 X per shift).
- Ability to run overhead electric cranes.
- Ability to measure, count and transcribe weights accurately.
- Ability to swing 3 pound hammer repetitively.
- Ability to use 36-pound slide hammer. (Sheeter # 1)
- Ability to stand for 8 hours.
- Able to drive a forklift and clamp truck.
- Must have a valid driver's license:
- Ability to read and write legibly, understand orders and issue sheets in English. Able to start shift on time.
- Have basic math skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Lift up to 90 pounds.
- Ability to stand 8 hours per day.
- Bend 45°ree; from the waist.
A machine operator will also be required to perform light janitorial work in his/her work area, such as sweeping and wiping down machinery. Due to the flexibility of our operation, additional tasks may be required.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
- Issue paper on issue sheets (record weight, paper grade, color and roll number) Install and remove steel shafts from paper rolls (this task involves many bending and stooping movements)
- Load paper rolls onto machine
- Squat and lift slabs and broken paper from the floor and insert it into a baler Operate baler and make bales
- Physically cutting paper off cores with a utility knife or skill saw
- Drive a forklift and clamp truck to move paper
- Operate overhead electrical hoist
- Removes jam-ups and wrap-ups
- Rethread folder from pull roll to knife
- Adjust-
- Static bars
- Folding rails
- Feed rolls
- Ejector
- Markers
- Breaks
- Clutch
- Runoff
- Skew (even paper pull)
- Oil shafts at start of shift and after breaks
