Role Overview:
The Maintenance and Facilities Supervisor oversees daily operations and performance of facilities and maintenance functions. This hands-on role includes managing routine maintenance and repairs for building systems, equipment, and infrastructure within the Pilot Plant—spanning HVAC, electrical, piping, and general facilities upkeep. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise and leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable site operations. . Responsibilities cover the Devens, MA and North Andover, MA locations
Core Responsibilities:
- Oversee and direct the work of the Facilities and Maintenance personnel who maintain the Devens & North Andover facilities, including the building, and building equipment systems.
- Interact with department managers to assess the support needs of the individual departments coordinating coverage, resources, and project management including scheduling and delegating resources.
- Supervision of Facilities and Maintenance personnel (including hiring decisions, evaluations of performance, and identification of training and development needs).
- Develop, improve, and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and other cGMP documentation as required/needed.
- Assure compliance of equipment for both laboratory and operations, including maintenance and repair of equipment per cGXP standards.
- Direct and advise the Facilities and Maintenance group to achieve long and short term goals and objectives.
- Ensures staff acts in accordance with EH&S policies, practices and procedures.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines in the performance of work at the site and verify all direct reports follow these guidelines as well, including Lock Out/Tag Out, Work Permits, & Job Hazard Analysis
- Responsible for special maintenance equipment projects for Pilot Plant Project teams and engineers.
- Purchase materials for facilities, maintenance and project teams.
- Provide guidance and direction to other staff to ensure facilities and maintenance requirements are consistently managed throughout the site.
- Set-up, schedule and maintain Preventative Maintenance (PM) program for Pilot plant, building, equipment and labs within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Maintain maintenance logs for equipment repairs.
- Others duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 5+ years of hands on maintenance and/or facilities experience.
- Minimum 2 years as a supervisor or a lead of mechanics in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with CMMS systems and creating and executing on demand and scheduled work orders.
- Knowledge of GMP & FDA requirements as they pertain to facility and equipment.
- Experience troubleshooting mechanical and electrical devices or systems.
- Experience training other individuals on repair of mechanical systems.
- Understanding of how a building management system operates.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
- Associates or Bachelors degree in mechanical, electrical, or chemical engineering
- 10+ years of experience in maintaining and installing a mixed variety of equipment
- 5 + years of experience as a supervisor or a lead of mechanics in a cGXP manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Blue Mountain RA
Special Factors
- While performing the duties of this job, it is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands or arms; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl when necessary for job activity.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
- Regularly works with moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, odors, heat, cold, toxic or caustic chemicals, potent compounds, electricity.
- Night and weekend on call support may be required.
- Travel between Devens and North Andover, MA locations may be required.
- Must be able to physically enter tight spaces, climb ladders and work from heights.
- Must be able to wear various types of respirators, protective clothing and hearing protection.
