Title: Utility Maintenance Technician

Updated Notes 9/24:

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years, preferably in pharma or life sciences.
  • Schedule: 10-hour shifts, Monday-Thursday -OR- Tuesday-Friday.
  • Required Expertise: Utility equipment, CMMS software, and HVAC and/or purified water systems.

Schedule:M-F, 1st shift

Description:
The Senior Utility Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing the maintenance and operation of utility systems within a facility. They are responsible for supporting a team of technicians and ensuring the efficient and reliable functioning of utility equipment. The senior technician must possess extensive knowledge and experience in utility systems, along with strong leadership and problem-solving skills.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Conduct regular inspections of utility systems to identify potential issues and develop preventive maintenance plans.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance activities to support process equipment and systems, in accordance with established procedures and/or approved practices. Support efforts in developing remediation for follow-up and emergency work.
  • Electrically / mechanically troubleshoot equipment and systems, and repair malfunctioning equipment.
  • Work with equipment owners/engineers and direct the performance of work by equipment vendors.
  • Maintain cGMP records, both paper-based and electronic.
  • Understand Asset Management and routine reliability concepts.
  • Troubleshoot complex problems with utility systems and equipment, and provide technical expertise to resolve issues.
  • Coordinate with other departments and external vendors to schedule repairs, maintenance, and equipment upgrades.
  • Develop and implement maintenance procedures and protocols to optimize the performance and lifespan of utility systems.
  • Monitor utility systems and equipment performance, analyzing data and making recommendations for improvements or upgrades.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment history, and inventory.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians, providing guidance on best practices, safety protocols, and technical skills.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and advancements in utility systems, and implement relevant changes as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety within the maintenance team.
  • Additional duties as may be assigned from time to time


HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or vocational training is preferred.
  • Military training equivalent of above is acceptable.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to team members and stakeholders.
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor.
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in maintaining and troubleshooting utilities systems in a pharmaceutical or similar regulated environment.
  • This position is site-based, requiring you to be at compnay's site full-time. This position is not eligible for remote work.


PREFERRED SKILLS

  • In-depth knowledge of utility systems, including RODI, ph Neutralization, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
