Machine Operator / Blade Maker - Second Shift

Shift:3:00 PM - 11:00 PM

Summary

This position involves setting up and operating various machines to produce components from metal and non-metal materials based on blueprints, sketches, and work instructions. The role includes a range of blade-making processes and requires strong measurement skills and manufacturing knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, lay out, set up, and operate blade-making equipment and processes independently.

  • Accurately read and use measuring tools (tape measure, micrometers, Vernier calipers); convert fractions to decimals.

  • Manufacture products according to specifications, procedures, drawings, and quality documents.

  • Perform basic machine maintenance.

  • Execute all operations in the blade department, including:

    • Punching

    • Shearing

    • Drilling

    • Skiving

    • Bevel grinding

    • Flattening

    • Routing

    • Slitting

    • Riveting

    • Finishing

    • Assembly

  • Pull coil stock for orders.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace.

  • Ensure the quality of all produced work.

  • Follow all safety policies and procedures.

  • Collaborate as a team member to meet department and company goals.

  • Work overtime as needed.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with blade assembly and manufacturing processes.

  • Experience operating lifting devices (cranes, power lifts, etc.).

Knowledge:

  • Basic shop math and manufacturing technology.

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and sequence of operations.

  • Familiarity with good manufacturing practices.

Skills:

  • Skilled in measuring and holding precise tolerances.

  • Proficient in interpreting technical documents and working to specifications.

  • Strong verbal and written communication.

  • Practical problem-solving with minimal supervision.

  • Average computer proficiency.

  • Able to manage and prioritize tasks effectively.

Physical & Environmental Demands

  • Manual dexterity to handle materials with fingers.

  • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 40 lbs without assistance.

  • Work in shop conditions with exposure to noise, dust, temperature changes, and moving machinery.

  • Periodic exposure to serious hazards requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Salary info:

$24 - $30 / hr
