Pay Rate: $37/hourRole OverviewOur client is seeking a Development Engineering Technician to support R&D efforts focused on the development and testing of innovative X-ray medical devices. This is a hands-on, onsite role supporting engineers through prototype assembly, testing, documentation, and troubleshooting within a collaborative R&D environment.The contractor will work closely with mechanical, systems, and software engineers to assemble, modify, and test components, modules, and full systems, while following approved engineering protocols and documentation standards.A Day in the RoleThe technician will begin by reviewing weekly objectives and target due dates with the hiring manager. For each objective, the contractor will clarify expected deliverables, confirm priorities, and identify any required training or support. Once aligned, the technician will independently execute tasks, which typically include assembling and testing X-ray devices and their subsystems, documenting results, and collaborating with engineers across sites via MS Teams as needed.Key Responsibilities
- Conduct component, module, and system testing according to approved protocols
- Create, modify, and assemble prototype electrical, mechanical, and software components, including cable assemblies and PCB rework
- Assemble complex prototype models for testing and evaluation
- Record activities and results in accordance with Engineering Documentation guidelines
- Provide input into testing protocols and procedural documentation
- Develop basic outlines or flowcharts for assembly and modification procedures
- Support multiple engineers simultaneously across parallel tasks
- Provide feedback to engineers related to manufacturability, serviceability, and usability of products in development
Required Experience & SkillsRequired (Must-Have)
- Strong hands-on mechanical and electro-mechanical acumen
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in an engineering technician, R&D, or prototype support role
- Ability to work independently once trained
- Proven mechanical troubleshooting skills
Teachable / Trainable
- X-ray device functionality
- CAD modeling concepts
Additional / Optional Skills
- Report writing (MS Word)
- Data analysis (MS Excel)
- CAD modeling using SolidWorks
Preferred Skill Set Ranking
- Hands-on mechanical and electrical workmanship
