  • Duration: direct hire
  • Pay rate: up to $125K based on experience (some flex for extraordinary candidates)
  • Job Location: Weymouth, MA (100% onsite)

Description:

A growing engineering and manufacturing organization in Weymouth, MA is seeking a Principal Electronic & Software Engineer to lead the design and development of innovative electronic products and embedded systems. This is a highly visible role offering technical ownership, product lifecycle involvement, and the opportunity to mentor junior engineers.

This opening is due to an upcoming retirement, creating a strong opportunity for a senior-level engineer to step into a key technical leadership position.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and introduction of electronic products and sub-assemblies
  • Develop engineering concepts, system architectures, and product requirements
  • Design manufacturable hardware and embedded software solutions
  • Architect microprocessor systems including embedded firmware and supporting circuitry
  • Design and develop analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits
  • Develop Built-In Test (BIT) functionality and production test fixtures for low-volume manufacturing
  • Create qualification strategies and execute testing to ensure designs meet requirements
  • Write and analyze test plans, execute tests, and evaluate results
  • Conduct design reviews to ensure circuit robustness and product reliability
  • Create and maintain technical documentation including manuals, data sheets, assembly, and test documentation
  • Support assembly teams and test technicians through process documentation and fixture development
  • Manage project plans and schedules within an ISO9001 environment
  • Mentor and guide co-op/junior engineers


Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering with 10+ years of experience
    or M.S. in Electrical Engineering with 7+ years of experience
    or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong experience in:
    • Analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit design
    • Embedded firmware development (real-time systems preferred)
    • Programming in C and assembly
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a structured environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally


Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with Altium
  • Python programming experience
  • Power supply design
  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM) knowledge
  • Six Sigma familiarity
  • Project management experience
  • Leadership experience or training
  • Industry exposure to:
    • Industrial controls
    • 3-phase power systems
    • Electric utility telecommunications
