Job Description

Job Description

Our client is the market leader in mammography and a global champion for women's health. Their Breast & Skeletal Health solutions help clinicians detect disease earlier and more accurately. We're now looking for a Lead Connectivity Engineer to shape what's next in imaging interoperability.

You will lead the design and implementation of connectivity and interoperability across the Breast & Skeletal Health product portfolio. Acting as the go-to expert for DICOM, HL7, FHIR, and related standards, you'll ensure our systems integrate seamlessly and securely with PACS, RIS, EI, EMR/EHR, and other clinical systems.

You'll combine deep technical expertise with leadership—guiding junior engineers, influencing cross-functional teams, and representing our client in external collaborations and industry forums. This role can sit hybrid in Marlborough, MA or Newark, DE.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define and maintain standard connectivity models for platforms.
  • Lead projects in network image management, interpretation workflows, printing, procedure management, and offline storage.
  • Ensure compliant, secure integration with hospital IT systems (PACS, RIS, EI, EMR/EHR).
  • Provide expert-level input on interoperability requirements and designs for new and existing products.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex interoperability issues as a third-tier escalation point; perform root cause analysis and drive corrective actions.
  • Build and manage lab environments and tools to improve Connectivity team efficiency.
  • Educate internal teams and present technical topics to customers and industry groups.
  • Mentor junior engineers and foster strong collaboration with Engineering, Field Service, Clinical Applications, Technical Support, and external vendors.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's in a technical field preferred.
  • Typically 8+ years relevant experience with a bachelor's; 6+ years with a master's; 3+ years with a PhD.
  • Proven experience leading product or process improvements; Agile experience a plus.

Technical Skills

  • Deep knowledge of medical imaging and radiology workflows.
  • Strong experience with DICOM (standards, conformance, network services, media exchange) and interoperability.
  • Experience with PACS, RIS, EI, EMR/EHR, PMS and related integrations.
  • Familiarity with HL7, FHIR, and enterprise imaging workflows (e.g., modality worklist, prior image retrieval).
  • Experience with tools such as Mirth/NextGen or Laurel Bridge Software is a plus.
  • Exposure to 510(k)/PMA submissions, HIPAA/GDPR, de-identification, and EHR integration is highly valued.
  • Experience with project/requirements tools (e.g., Atlassian, JAMA) is a plus.

      Soft Skills

      • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to explain complex topics to varied audiences.
      • Strong collaborator with the ability to lead, influence without authority, and manage vendors.
      • Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and project/workload management skills.
