Schulte Staffing Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Designer/Draft Engineer for our client North of Boston. This is a DIRECT HIRE opportunity with exceptional benefits!

Schedule: Monday - Friday | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Salary: $75,000 - $90,000+ (DOE)

Summary/Objective

The Senior Mechanical Designer/Draft Engineer will be responsible for designing custom electromechanical solutions, creating technical documentation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support manufacturing and procurement. This role demands a deep understanding of motion dynamics, CAD modeling (SolidWorks), and GD&T standards.

Job Functions include:

  • Design mechanical and electromechanical products per customer specs
  • Create detailed technical and assembly drawings in SolidWorks
  • Apply GD&T for manufacturability and consistent performance
  • Collaborate with purchasing/manufacturing to source components
  • Generate and manage Bills of Materials in ERP systems
  • Design test and assembly fixtures as needed
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor junior designers
  • Support continuous improvement of design processes and procedures
  • Communicate effectively across teams and with vendors
  • Use inspection tools to support quality standards

The Ideal Candidate MUST have:

  • 8+ years of experience in industrial mechanical design/drafting
  • Strong proficiency with SolidWorks, GD&T, and technical documentation
  • Solid knowledge of power transmission and motion control components
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.5, manufacturing methods, and inspection capabilities
  • Working experience with ERP and Microsoft Office systems
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specs, and standards

Required Education and Experience

  • Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, CAD Design, or similar
  • SolidWorks certification preferred
  • GD&T certification preferred
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and AS9100 a plus
