A registered nurse with specialized experience in step-down care is sought to provide high-quality nursing services in a fast-paced hospital environment. This contract position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient recovery during critical transitional care, working overnight to support patients requiring close monitoring.
Location:
This role is based in Boston, MA, a vibrant city known for its distinguished healthcare institutions and rich cultural heritage. Boston offers a unique blend of historic charm and modern amenities, with excellent public transportation, diverse dining options, and numerous parks and waterfront areas to explore during downtime.
Schedule/Hours:
- 36 hours per week
- Night shifts from 7:15 PM to 7:15 AM
- Three 12-hour shifts per week
- Every other weekend and rotating holidays
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
- Current RN license with step-down unit experience is essential
- Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments and deliver critical care interventions
- Skilled in monitoring post-ICU patients who need acute care but do not require intensive care unit admission
- Strong clinical judgment and excellent communication skills to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
- Proven ability to work effectively during night shifts
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Deliver high-level nursing care focused on patients requiring close observation and treatment modifications
- Monitor vital signs, administer medications, and coordinate care tailored to individual patient needs
- Document patient progress and communicate changes in condition promptly to the medical team
- Provide patient education and emotional support to patients and families during transitional recovery phases
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety protocols, and quality standards
