THE OPPORTUNITY Plan, create layout, set-up, and operate manually operated and CNC machine shop equipment. Read and understand blueprints, manuals, and other technical documentation in order to perform machine shop tasks. Design, machine and build simple fixtures and tools to assist production and engineering. Setup, operate, and disassemble manual and CNC machines. Align, secure, and adjust cutting tools and work pieces. Monitor speed and feed of machines. Turn, mill, drill, and shape machine parts to specifications. Measure and examine completed parts to meet specifications. Test production tools and fixtures to satisfy requirements.
Maintain machines and mechanical equipment, make adjustments, repair and report any problems.
Independent person in mid-level support role. Complete routine tasks under moderate supervision.
Essential Job Functions
Independent self-starter who can operate manual machines, program and operate CNC mill. Make, repair or modify parts per specifications. Read blueprints and drawings, inspect finished parts using various measuring tools and techniques to ensure accuracy and quality. Ability to handle, machine and assemble delicate small parts, maintain accuracy and meet customer specs.
Maintain equipment, troubleshoot and report problems.

- Machining skills with ability to design
- CNC and CAM capabilities
- Ability to handle duties and tasks that may be complex
- Perform basic math, geometry and trig calculations
- Flexibility within shop schedule to meet production needs
- Resolve routine issues and problems
- Computer literate including knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
- Follow all documented safety requirements
Bonus skills and experience
- CAD drafting skills such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD
- Programming knowledge of SolidWorks CAM
- Experience with Tormach Path Pilot CNC software
Education and Experience and/or equivalent
HS Diploma and (1) one plus year of experience
