Deliver customer orders without interruption by keeping every asset safe, compliant, and reliable. As our Industrial Maintenance Supervisor, you will orchestrate people, processes, and equipment care to eliminate downtime.
What success looks like
- Within 30 days: master company policies and local practices; take ownership of the Maintenance Mechanics schedule; ensure on-call readiness for urgent needs.
- Within 60 days: stabilize the PM program cadence, tighten documentation discipline, and refresh the Idle Assets Database.
- Within 90 days: demonstrate cost control on labor, elevate training standards, and lead visible improvements in quality, safety, and sanitation.
Core responsibilities
- Perform the full scope of Mechanic duties without direct supervision while leading the team.
- Drive preventive maintenance execution and updates, including systematic recordkeeping and Idle Assets Database stewardship.
- Design, fabricate, and install non-mechanical fixtures such as stands and tables.
- Maintain detailed records covering work orders, downtime, maintenance projects, and materials procurement.
- Work on electrical systems up to 600V with safety-first rigor.
- Execute precision welding via heli-arc, TIG, and plasma cutting.
- Operate stand-up and sit-down forklifts; keep licensing current.
- Recommend personnel actions including hiring, termination, discipline, promotion, transfers, and compensation changes.
- Lead employee training and champion continuous improvement initiatives.
- Enforce standards of quality, safety, and sanitation across all maintenance activities.
- Manage labor cost by optimizing manning and completing work on straight time whenever feasible.
- Administer performance appraisals and salary reviews; provide ongoing feedback and coaching.
- Assist employees in resolving work-related issues; offer direction and motivation.
- Administer procurement of tools, materials, and parts through the NWF Req Database.
- Remain on-call for urgent assistance during the week and take on special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Technical trade or college degree, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of manufacturing maintenance with at least 3 years in a food manufacturing setting.
- 2 to 3+ years of supervisory experience; proven, decisive leadership.
- Knowledge of PLCs and VFDs; Allen-Bradley exposure is advantageous. Troubleshooting required; programming not required.
- Licensed to operate both stand-up and sit-down forklifts.
