An opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse skilled in Medical-Surgical care to support a well-established 48-bed unit at a reputable hospital in Concord, NH. This contract position offers 12-hour shifts on an every-other-week schedule, providing a structured yet flexible work environment. The unit features a patient ratio averaging 1:5 during the day and 1:6 at night, supported by unit secretaries and patient care technicians to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform thorough head-to-toe assessments and deliver orthopedic care.
- Administer and manage IV medications, including Lasix, heparin drips, IV push metoprolol, diltiazem, and insulin (IV or subcutaneous).
- Provide wound care involving drain management and negative pressure wound therapy (V.A.C.).
- Manage enteral feeding tubes (NGT/G-tube) and parenteral nutrition.
- Oversee central line care, including PICC, hemodialysis catheters, and midlines.
- Care for urinary catheters such as Foley, nephrostomy, and suprapubic catheters.
- Deliver postoperative patient care.
- Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds (MDRs) on day shifts, Monday through Friday.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid RN license and BLS certification.
- Proven expertise in Med/Surg nursing and comprehensive assessment.
- Competence in managing complex IV therapies and wound care.
- Ability to work within a collaborative team environment with consistent communication.
Work Environment and Equipment:
- Utilization of state-of-the-art equipment such as Hoyer lifts, automated blood pressure monitors, bladder scanners, remote telemetry, and vein finders.
- Documentation handled through Altera/Allscripts Sunrise electronic medical records.
- No strict uniform policy; scrubs and closed-toe shoes are required (no Crocs).
