The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for executing preventive maintenance and repairs on plant equipment within a busy food processing facility in New Bedford. This role requires a higher level of mechanical independence and will work the 2nd shift as part of a growing maintenance team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute PMs of plant equipment and repairs around a busy production schedule
- Work with contractors: electricians, refrigeration contractors, plumbers, etc.
- Work with an evolving maintenance team and maintenance supervisor
- Create work orders and maintain inventory for replacement parts
- Perform general maintenance on OEM and custom fabricated equipment
- Communicate with team members on plant issues and work to improve plant operations
Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years of experience in an industrial mechanic environment

Bilingual English/Spanish; is a plus

Ability to troubleshoot and solve mechanical and electrical issues independently

Conveyor, grinder, and production equipment experience

Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems is a plus

Understanding of blueprints, drawings, and schematics

Basic computer and math skills

Reliable transportation to New Bedford

Ability to lift within OSHA guidelines
Work Environment:
- Active food processing facility; cold/refrigerated environment with fish
- 5 days/week including 1 weekend day
