Under the general direction and supervision of the Lead CAD Designer, the Electrical Designer / Drafter performs electrical design and CAD drafting duties supporting the engineering, fabrication, and installation of facilities within the Oil & Gas and Utility sectors. The primary focus of work is within Natural Gas, Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) systems with additional exposure to broader utility-style electrical infrastructure projects. This role works closely with engineers and other discipline drafters to develop fully coordinated drawing packages across Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Piping, and Controls disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
The Electrical Designer / Drafter is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
• Prepare preliminary, detailed, and construction-level electrical drawings in support of pipeline facilities, meter stations, compressor stations, CNG, LNG, and other gas-handling infrastructure
• Develop fully coordinated electrical drawing packages working closely with:
o Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Piping, and Controls drafters
o Design Engineers and Technical Staff
• Apply NEC-based design practices to industrial and utility-style electrical systems
• Produce and maintain drawings such as:
o One-Line and Three-Line Diagrams
o Electrical Plans and Details
o Control Schematics and Interconnection Diagrams
o Grounding, Conduit, and Cable Schedules
o Loop Diagrams & Network Diagrams
o Hazardous Area Classification Plans
• Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), often using Microsoft Excel, and coordinate reviews with Engineering and Purchasing
• Support field verification efforts and assist with site visits to confirm existing conditions and as-built documentation
• Maintain as-built drawings following project completion and ensure records are properly archived and distributed
• Manage and maintain electronic drawing files and documentation databases
• Compile construction records and documentation in accordance with company operating procedures and project requirements
• Strict adherence to company drafting standards.
