Job DescriptionJob Opportunity: Head and Neck Surgeon/Otolaryngologist

Our organization is currently in search of a full-time academic Head and Neck Surgeon/Otolaryngologist. This role requires specialized training in head and neck surgical oncology as well as facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, including expertise in microvascular free tissue transfer. Proficiency in DaVinci robotic transoral surgery of the pharynx is essential. Experience in facial trauma repair and post-Mohs reconstruction is considered a plus. The successful candidate will also engage in a comprehensive range of ENT practices, encompassing rhinology, laryngology, and basic otology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, diagnose, and manage patients within the Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery department.
  • Conduct intricate head and neck oncologic, reconstructive, and microvascular surgeries, including robotic transoral procedures.
  • Deliver clinical care in rhinology, laryngology, and otology, while participating in on-call duties.
  • Engage in teaching, supervision, and academic initiatives, including research and publication efforts.
  • Collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary teams focused on veteran-centered care.

Work Schedule:

This is a full-time position, operating Monday through Friday, with specific hours to be discussed with your supervisor.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English is required.
  • A Doctor of Medicine degree or an equivalent qualification from an accredited institution recognized by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Possession of a current, unrestricted medical or surgical license in any U.S. State, Territory, or the District of Columbia.
  • Completion of residency training in an accredited core specialty program, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, leading to board certification eligibility. Approved residency programs include:
    • Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited programs,
    • American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited programs, or
    • Other non-U.S. residency programs followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the U.S., as deemed appropriate by the local Medical Staff Executive Committee.
  • Residents currently in ACGME/AOA accredited programs may qualify as "Physician Resident Providers" (PRPs), provided they meet the basic appointment criteria. PRPs must hold a full medical license and will not be considered independent practitioners.
  • Board certification in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery is mandatory.
  • Preferred experience in facial trauma repair and reconstruction following dermatologic surgery.
  • Credentials suitable for appointments at Boston University School of Medicine or Harvard Medical School.
  • Completion of fellowship training in head and neck surgical oncology and facial plastics/microvascular reconstruction.
  • A strong academic background with demonstrated evidence of teaching, research, and publications.
  • Expertise in microvascular reconstruction and robotic transoral surgery.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary: Competitive compensation with annual performance bonuses and regular salary increases.
