Job Summary

Buckingham Browne & Nichols School is seeking a .8 Athletics Equipment Manager to support BB&N's athletic program. The Equipment Manager will work closely with the leadership of the Athletics department to help ensure that policies and procedures are developed and implemented to purchase, maintain, and track equipment. In addition, the person in this position will manage the laundering of uniforms, supplies, and equipment, staying up to date on industry standards and best practices. The Equipment Manager will support the athletic philosophy of BB&N.


Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Key functions for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Developing and implementing equipment management policies and procedures.

  • Developing and managing a budget for equipment purchases, maintenance, and repairs.

  • Tracking and maintaining records of all equipment and uniforms, including purchasing new items and managing inventory levels.

  • Managing uniforms, laundry, and other team-related equipment.

  • Oversee replacement, use, condition, and purchase of uniforms, equipment, and supplies.

  • Issuing, cleaning, collecting, and storing of uniforms, supplies, and equipment.

  • Initiating and working with coaches on equipment requests and needs.

  • Ensuring all equipment complies with safety regulations.

  • Scheduling and overseeing routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections to ensure equipment is in good working order and meets safety standards

  • Performing minor repairs and arranging for major repairs.

  • Staying up to date on industry best practices and new technologies.

  • Oversee coordination with equipment and uniform vendors.

  • Oversee game day set up of fields, courts, and rink.

  • Oversee locker maintenance and locker rooms and locker assignments.

  • Develop and implement team gear policies and coordination.


Skills and Competencies:

The ideal candidate should have a 5+ years of experience working in athletics and/or purchasing. In addition, the ideal candidate will be collaborative, energetic, organized, knowledgeable, flexible, and eager to be an active member of a dynamic athletic and learning community. In addition, the ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Very strong customer service orientation preferably in a non-profit, retail, educational or hospitality environment.

  • Some experience in and an aptitude for administration and purchasing management for athletic uniforms and related equipment

  • Excellent organizational, verbal & written communication skills.

  • Experience in using Google Suite and other computer systems

  • Must have the ability to work independently and as a team member.

  • Commitment to working in and fostering an inclusive community

  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
