We are seeking a dedicated Pathology Assistant V to join our team. This role involves performing complete dissections, gross descriptions, and the selection and submission of tissue for microscopic examination and special studies. The ideal candidate will follow departmental guidelines to ensure high-quality specimen handling and processing. This position supports the pathology operations in an academic medical center, providing an opportunity to work with residents and other Pathology Assistants in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform complete dissections, gross descriptions, and selection and submission of tissue for microscopic examination.
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing.
- Adhere to quality control policies and procedures.
- Assist other areas within the department with specified assignments in a timely manner.
- Maintain a professional environment and high ethical standards.
- Identify and resolve problems that may affect test performance or reporting.
- Manage hazardous waste and implement personal protection measures.
- Support pathology operations and the histology department, working with residents and other team members.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related science.
- No experience required with the completion of a NAACLS accredited PA program.
- Proficiency in computers and laboratory information systems.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- High level of attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Knowledge of quality control and quality assurance processes.
- Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position.
- Ability to pass a standardized color vision screen.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- ASCP certification is highly preferred.
- Experience cutting frozen sections is desired.
- Experience in a high-volume clinical laboratory environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with working on complex cases and interacting with residents is helpful.
Work Environment
The position is based in an academic medical center with a supportive and collaborative work environment. Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts may be required depending on business needs. The role supports the histology department and involves working with a broad spectrum of complex and large cases, ensuring a comprehensive learning and working experience.

This is a Contract position based out of Wrentham, MA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $65.00/hr.
