Blackstone Valley Health and Rehabilitation is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and creative Activity Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with residents living with dementia, as well as a strong understanding of person-centered engagement approaches in a skilled nursing and rehabilitation setting.
The Activity Assistant supports the Activity Director in planning and implementing engaging recreational, social, and therapeutic programs that enhance the physical, emotional, and social well-being of our residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, organizing, and facilitating daily activity programs for residents
- Lead group activities such as games, arts and crafts, music, exercise, and special events
- Provide one-on-one engagement for residents, including those with cognitive impairments
- Encourage resident participation and foster a positive, inclusive environment
- Help decorate and prepare materials for seasonal and holiday events
- Transport residents to and from activities as needed
- Document resident participation and progress in accordance with facility policies
- Maintain activity supplies and ensure activity areas are clean and organized
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support resident care plans
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding activity programming
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience working with seniors and individuals with dementia preferred
- Previous experience in long-term care, senior living, recreation, or a related field preferred
- CNA certification (preferred but not required)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate, patient, and dependable
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends
- Basic computer skills for documentation

Work Environment
This position is based at our skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility in Whitinsville. The role requires standing, walking, bending, lifting (up to 25 lbs), and interacting closely with residents in a healthcare setting.
