Job Summary

The Manufacturing/Production Operator will perform diversified manual and mechanical duties to aid in the set up and operation of manufacturing machinery in several production sections of the company including press, converting, lamination and bag/pouch operations. Duties include machine set up, loading product, machine operation, quality checks, routine machine maintenance, and other similar duties pertaining to machine operation. Duties require verbal communications skills, visual acuity to machine operation and product details as well as written material, manual coordination. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year of direct-related experience as a machine operator, press operator, or lamination machine operator.

Minimum Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

Required Skills

  • Ability to meet the demands of multiple shifts and overtime when needed
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers and be a team player
  • Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16"
  • Ability to understand basic mathematics including decimals
  • Manual coordination and dexterity while utilizing hand tools and cleaning equipment
  • Ability to handle equipment with care, caution and work safely

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Driver’s license preferred

Essential Functions

  • Set-up and operation of various machines
  • Independently operate the assigned machine and identify problems or errors with equipment
  • Process material through machine according to company specifications Ensure all production data is entered appropriately and accurately Inspect and maintain quality of product
  • Using a hand truck to organize work area and/or move materials Comply with all company safety policies and report any incidents or hazards.
  • Promptly report any mechanical or electrical concerns related to the required maintenance of machines. Meet all quality and efficiency standards
  • Work with the leadership team when necessary to achieve performance goals Special project and assignments as business dictates
  • Responsible for the maintenance, creation and control of machine setup and run times
  • Follow all established safety rules and regulations and utilize the required safety equipment
  • Report malfunctioning equipment or other unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel
  • Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition
  • Record data on QC sheets for each job. Bring press up to operating speed and begin production run
  • Interpret work instructions to obtain job details and specifications
  • Make required adjustments to achieve proper registration, web tension and centering on rolls
  • Review and approval set-ups performed by an assistant
  • Follow all Garlock and food safety protocol

Physical Requirements

Exerts 10 to 20 pounds of force frequently. Exerts 20 to 50 pounds of force frequently. Lifting up to 50 pounds at varying heights of up to 5 feet occasionally. Frequently works with hands and is squatting, crouching, turning, twisting, stretching, climbing stairs, grabbing, reaching, pushing, pulling and bending. Standing on feet for 8 to 12 hours per day on concrete surfaces. Ability to distinguish colors (required for press positions).
