Candidate Profile -
We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Civil Engineer specializing in land development design and permitting. The ideal candidate will have experience in site layout, grading, drainage, utilities, stormwater management, and regulatory permitting for residential, commercial, or mixed-use developments.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare detailed civil engineering plans, reports, and specifications for land development projects.
* Perform site layout, grading design, utility systems design, and erosion & sediment control plans.
* Conduct stormwater management design in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
* Coordinate with clients, architects, surveyors, landscape architects, and other design professionals.
* Prepare permit applications and supporting documentation for submission to regulatory agencies.
* Respond to comments and requests for revisions from local boards, conservation commissions, and reviewing agencies.
* Assist in construction administration, including review of submittals and responding to RFIs.
* Attend public meetings and hearings as needed to support project approvals.
Qualifications
* Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
* 37 years of experience in land development engineering in Massachusetts.
* EIT required; PE license preferred or ability to obtain within 12 months.
* Proficient in AutoCAD; familiarity with HydroCAD or similar stormwater modeling software is a plus.
* Strong understanding of local, state (Massachusetts DEP), and federal permitting processes.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience
* Residential subdivision and commercial site development.
* Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and Stormwater Management Standards.
* Familiarity with MEPA, NPDES, and local zoning/subdivision regulations.
* Experience presenting at Planning Boards, Zoning Boards, or Conservation Commissions.
