Summary of duties and responsibilities

The scope of the Systems Apprentice role is responsible for assisting with tasks such as system installations, equipment testing, and troubleshooting across various platforms, including fire alarms, video surveillance, access control, and intrusion detection systems. This role emphasizes safety, adherence to industry standards, and effective customer communication. Upon completing the apprenticeship program, individuals are prepared to pursue licensure and advance into full-fledged technician roles.

Duties include but are not limited to the following: coordinates projects and activities for sales and marketing servicesSupport technicians in the setup of fire alarm, intrusion, access control, and video surveillance systems in residential and commercial settings.

  • Gain hands-on experience in identifying and resolving system issues under the supervision of senior technicians.
  • Participate in the testing and inspection of installed systems to ensure proper functionality and compliance with safety codes.
  • Help organize and maintain tools, equipment, and job site cleanliness to support efficient workflow.
  • Adhere to company policies, safety procedures, and industry regulations while learning proper techniques and practices.

Experience:

  • Designed for individuals eager to enter the security systems industry, with no prior experience required.
  • Combines on-the-job training with formal education, typically spanning about two years
  • Other job duties as assigned

Education requirement:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Physical Activities/ Requirements

Technicians:

  • Ability to use equipment to perform the job: Ladder, company vehicle, hand tools, (I.E. screwdriver, drill, meters, telephone headset, soldering iron, pipe bender, hilti gun etc.) telephone, lift, and adding machine.
  • Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring.
  • Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders or scaffolding.
  • Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
