Job Description

An Aftermarket Car/Truck Electronics Installer (also commonly referred to as a Mobile Electronics Installation Specialist or 12-Volt Technician) is responsible for integrating non-factory electronic systems into commercial vehicles.

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Aftermarket Car Electronics Installer to join our growing new installation service team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnostic testing, installing, upgrading, and repairing a wide range of electrical components commonly found in commercial trucks. These systems include aftermarket monitor systems, dash cameras, backup cameras, OEM wiring harnesses, installing new wiring for strobe lights as well as truck body lights.

The ideal candidate possesses deep foundational knowledge of vehicle electrical systems (DC circuits), exhibits strong problem-solving skills, and demonstrates meticulous craftsmanship when disassembling and reassembling vehicle interiors.

Duties and Responsibilities

Install aftermarket electronics including back up cameras, in cab monitors, navigation systems.
Examine vehicle electrical architectures using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and OBD-II diagnostic tools to trace wiring and locate faults.
Safely splice, route, and solder electrical wiring and harnesses.
Maintain vehicle aesthetics by carefully removing and reinstalling seats, door panels, carpeting, and dashboards.
Verify vehicle compatibility by cross-referencing make, model, and year specifications with aftermarket manufacturer software and manuals before starting a build.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace in accordance with shop standards and safety regulations.

Requirements and Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. An associate degree or trade certification in electronics or automotive technology is highly preferred.
Experience: Minimum 2+ years of proven work experience as an automotive or aftermarket electronics installer.
Technical Skills: Deep proficiency with 12V DC circuits, wiring schematics, relays, and basic soldering.
Physical Fitness: Ability to crouch, kneel, work in cramped automotive interiors for long periods, and lift heavy equipment up to 50 lbs.
License: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record for moving client vehicles into installation bays.
Attributes: Strong communication skills, sharp troubleshooting aptitude, and a meticulous attention to detail.
