Summary: Provide cost and lead-time estimates for sheet metal parts and assemblies, tooling, materials, outside processing and services in support of New Product Opportunities and Product Realization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Provide cost and lead-time estimates to sales department staff as required.
- Maintain a costing format that is to MACK policy and procedure(S).
- Ability to review 3D for best manufacturing methodology.
- Ability to review 2D for best manufacturing methodology.
- Ability to review Bill of Materials for best manufacturing methodology.
- Coordinate requests for quotations for parts, tooling, materials, goods, and services to support new product introduction and production as necessary.
- Maintain job related documentation including written and verbal communications.
- Interface with Business Units, Manufacturing, Quality, and Finance consistent with MACK policy and procedure.
- Review program information to understand application, product intent and functionality and overall product requirements to ensure customer specifications communicated to suppliers address all needs.
- Review customer specifications and drawings and ensure sufficient to communicate required specifications to internal departments.
- Identify, source and qualify new equipment and or processes.
- Secure necessary supplier Non-Disclosure Agreements.
- Negotiate sheet metal costs, lead times, terms and conditions and tolerance.
- Communicate customer requirements and equipment capability.
- Ensure / work with department manager to understand capacity, yield and cost structure.
- Attend program team meetings to understand quote requirements, address issues, provide DFM and design for cost initiatives.
- Perform assigned activity in a timely manner.
- Maintain and update short and long-term strategies.
- Continuously pursue cost reductions to enhance profitability.
- Attend program team meetings as necessary to resolve issues to maintain customer satisfaction.
- Provide support to other departments to set and achieve program goals to maintain total customer satisfaction.
- Frequent domestic and occasional international travel to suppliers required.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
Bachelors Degree (B.S.) in Business or Engineering from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of sheet metal fabrication desired for this position.
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Inventory software; Internet software and Project Management software.
