Role Description

APR is looking for experienced coaches for our High School Spring Sports program. Coaches will report to the Athletic Director and must be knowledgeable about the skills and strategies of the sport and are responsible for providing a safe environment for players during practices and matches. They must possess effective coaching techniques and skills as well as knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport. Prior experience as a varsity or junior varsity coach at the high school and/or club level is preferred. First Aid and CPR/AED certifications are provided.

Coaches are responsible for helping with practices, player improvement, effective communication and game day management.

Coaches must report any concerns about contest, practices, transportation, and student conduct directly to the Athletic Director after any incident.

Responsibilities

  • Teach fundamental and advanced techniques and strategies.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and competitive team culture.
  • Ensure compliance with school, league, and state athletic regulations.
  • Communicate regularly with student-athletes, families, and school staff.
  • Promote academic accountability and good citizenship among team members.
  • Oversee team equipment and uniforms.
  • Attend league meetings, trainings, and required school events.

Qualifications

  • Prior coaching experience (high school or higher level preferred).
  • Knowledge of sport rules, techniques, and training methods.
  • Ability to positively motivate and manage high school athletes.
  • CPR/First Aid and Concussion Certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Background check clearance required.
  • Must be available for practices after school and for weekday/weekend games.
