Location: Waltham, MA (Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite per Week)

Employment Type: Contract (6+ Months)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager (AI) to support enterprise-wide Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning initiatives within a dynamic pharmaceutical and technology environment. This role will be responsible for managing AI-driven projects, coordinating cross-functional teams, driving Agile delivery, and ensuring successful execution of strategic technology initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management expertise, experience leading complex technology programs, and the ability to bridge technical, scientific, and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

AI Program & Project Management

  • Support enterprise-wide AI and Machine Learning initiatives across multiple business functions.
  • Define project objectives, scope, deliverables, success criteria, and key performance indicators.
  • Lead projects from initiation through execution, monitoring, and successful delivery.
  • Develop and maintain project plans using Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery methodologies.
  • Manage project timelines, milestones, dependencies, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure project deliverables are completed on schedule and aligned with business objectives.

Agile Delivery & Governance

  • Drive Agile project execution through sprint planning, backlog management, and iterative delivery practices.
  • Facilitate project governance activities through structured reporting and portfolio oversight.
  • Support portfolio management initiatives by maintaining project visibility and execution consistency.
  • Ensure alignment with organizational standards, project governance frameworks, and best practices.
  • Track project performance metrics and communicate progress to leadership and stakeholders.

Risk Management & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Identify project risks, issues, and dependencies and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Drive issue resolution while minimizing project impacts and delivery delays.
  • Build strong relationships with business, technical, scientific, and executive stakeholders.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and communication across global teams.
  • Provide regular project updates, status reports, and executive-level communications.

Technology & Change Management

  • Collaborate with technical teams on software development, system architecture, and integration initiatives.
  • Support implementation of scalable AI and technology solutions.
  • Translate governance requirements and policies into actionable workflows for technical and scientific teams.
  • Drive organizational change management efforts associated with AI governance and emerging technologies.
  • Promote adoption of project management best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience managing technology, digital transformation, AI, or Machine Learning projects.
  • Strong experience with Agile methodologies including Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, and hybrid project management models.
  • Proven ability to manage project planning, budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, and risk management.
  • Experience leading complex cross-functional projects from initiation through deployment.
  • Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), system architecture, and technology integration concepts.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.
  • Experience working with geographically distributed and global teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or Healthcare organizations.
  • Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or Advanced Analytics initiatives.
  • Experience supporting enterprise digital transformation and innovation programs.
  • Familiarity with AI governance frameworks and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to translate technical and governance requirements into operational processes and workflows.
  • Project Management certification (PMP, PMI-ACP, Scrum Master, SAFe, or equivalent) preferred.

Compensation

Massachusetts Pay Transparency:

Estimated Pay Rate: $75–$80/hour (W-2)

Final compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and interview performance.
