About the Position
The Senior Director of Data & Impact will lead HopeWell’s impact measurement, learning, and continuous improvement strategies in conjunction with the vision of the Chief Policy & Impact Officer to ensure data-driven decision-making across programs and policy initiatives.
In this dynamic role, you’ll work to foster a learning culture, ensuring that research and data insights drive ongoing programmatic and process improvement through effective collaboration. This role will also directly supervise the Director of Program Data & Impact.
Your Impact will Include (Job Responsibilities)
As the Senior Director of Data & Impact, you will be accountable for building a sustainable strategic learning and impact infrastructure that promotes evidence-informed decision making and accelerates HopeWell’s progress toward its North Star goals. Specifically, you will:
Cultivate a Culture of Learning and Improvement
- Build staff capacity to engage with data through training and structured reflection
- Lead initiatives that normalize inquiry, experimentation and shared accountability in the pursuit of continuous quality improvement
Design and Drive a Strategic Learning Agenda
- Develop and operationalize a learning agenda that clarifies organizational learning priorities across both direct service and systems change strategies
- Align the learning agenda with HopeWell’s Theory of Change, ensuring focus on critical questions to inform strategic direction and resource allocation
Translate Insights into Actionable Strategy
- Synthesize data into actionable insights tailored for executive leadership, program teams and external stakeholders
- Produce evaluation summaries that influence decision-making, strategy development and field facing communications
- Ensure that impact data is leveraged to strengthen policy advocacy and positioning
Lead Adaptive Learning and Evaluation Initiatives
- Design learning frameworks that evolve in response to evidence and feedback
- Implement evaluation strategies across organizational initiatives
- Support external evaluations to ensure alignment with values and intended impact
Align Impact Measurement with Strategic Priorities
- Lead logic model development to reflect core components and pathways of change
- Ensure alignment between data collection, measurement and strategic priorities
- Ensure metrics capture both service delivery fidelity and participant outcomes
Strengthen Internal Systems for Data Management and Use
- Oversee data systems and visualizations that support real-time decision-making
- Supervise the Director of Data & Impact and provide coaching, mentorship and professional development to strengthen team capacit
- Collaborate with internal HopeWell departments (IT, Finance, etc.) to integrate systems that support cross-functional learning and accountability
Build Strategic Partnerships for Learning and Influence
- Represent HopeWell externally in learning partnerships and coalitions
- Partner with funders, consultants and peers to expand capacity, share findings and shape field-level discourse
The Expertise We Can’t Do Without (Qualifications)
- Advanced degree (Master’s or equivalent) in applied research, social sciences, evaluation, or related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of leadership in impact measurement, evaluation, or learning roles.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience supervising

Other Essential Requirements
This opportunity may be split between office-based and up to 50% remote-based work. The role may also be structured as a 4-day work week, if preferred. Community-based work will be expected when in-person meetings, trainings, presentations or the like are deemed valuable for staff or external partners.
- Daily access to an automobile is preferred.
- A valid MA State Driver’s License.
- Clearing of background checks as required by state and federal law.
