Summary
The Lawrence School for Young Children in East Dorset, VT is looking for a swim instructor for the 2026 summer season. All lessons are one-on-one in an in-ground pool located on school premises. Lessons are made available to our enrolled campers and the general community.
Duties
Upon arrival each day: Remove pool's solar cover, skim pool to remove debris, empty skimmer basket, get equipment/toys out of pool shed, open deck umbrellas.
Accompany campers back and forth between the pool and the classroom or playground, making sure all gates to the pool are locked at all times.
Provide one-on-one 25-minute swim lessons for children ages 2y.o. and up.
Complete required scheduling sheet each day.
At end of each day: Put solar cover back on the pool, put all equipment/toys back in pool shed, close and fasten all deck umbrellas.
Requirements
WSI (water safety instructor) or lifeguard certified.
CPR/Basic First Aid certified.
Friendly, outgoing, upbeat personality with a positive, encouraging manner.
Must enjoy working with young children.
Nice To Haves
Experience preferred, but not mandatory with certification.

About Us
The Lawrence School for Young Children is a 5-star early childhood facility (in Vermont's STARS program) serving up to forty 0-5-year-olds each day for the past 40 years in the Manchester/Dorset area. All of our staff are college graduates; two are licensed early childhood educators through the VT DOE. LSYC also participates in the state's UPK program, offering free preschool hours for all 3-4-year-olds.
