A friendly family in Newton is seeking a long term, live out, full time nanny/family assistant to care for their 9 year old daughter. This is a great opportunity for an experienced nanny who would love to support mom in providing high quality care for a neurodivergent child, while also helping to keep the household running smoothly. The child will be in a therapeutic school part time and may increase her hours there over the school year. While she is at school, responsibilities will shift to household support.
Requirements
- At least 21 years old
- Non-smoker/vaper
- CPR / First Aid certified
- 3+ years of relevant professional experience
- Flu and TDap Vaccinations required; Covid vaccination preferred
- Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle & clean driving record
Responsibilities
- Meal and snack prep for the child
- Prepping her lunch and backpack for school each day
- Engaging in play and taking an interest in the child’s interests/preferences
- School pick ups
- Medication administration
- Family laundry, dishes, emptying trash/recycling
- Tidying play-spaces and child’s bedroom
- Keeping track of household inventory
- Errands
- Household projects as they arise
About the Family
Both parents work from home full time. There is a mini Labradoodle in the home, so candidates should be dog friendly and comfortable letting the dog out on occasion. The child loves doing makeup, crafts, coloring, making and editing videos, singing, baking, learning new dance moves and playing with her lovies. She does well with people who are calm and can engage with her while still following her lead and recognizing her need for space or quiet at times.
Ideal Candidate
A career nanny/family assistant that is seeking a collaborative and proactive position with comfort and experience working with neurodivergent children will do well in this role. The family is looking for someone who is communicative, organized, sweet, warm, empathetic, and patient. Candidates who thrive on routine dependability, punctuality, and consistency are highly preferred. Additionally, candidates should be playful, but also calm and intuitive to the child’s needs while eager to engage in the child’s special interests as appropriate. The nanny should have comfort working independently to ensure the child's needs and safety are met.
Position Details
- Location: Newton, MA
- Schedule: Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm (flexible to do 9:30-5:30 if that works better for the candidate)
- (40hrs/wk guaranteed)
- Start Date: January 2027
- Hourly Rate: $32-37/hr BOE; taxes withheld (any overtime would be paid at 1.5x)
