Attorney James P. Sweeney has almost twenty five years of experience in the areas of Courtroom Advocacy, Civil Litigation, Real Estate Law, Estate Planning & Elder Law and Business Representation. He began his legal career in 1996 working in Boston as a civil litigation associate for renowned Boston Trial Attorney, Frank Corso where he later became a partner and gained extensive courtroom experience. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association.
In 2003, Attorney Sweeney expanded his practice to include Real Estate Law, Estate Planning, Elder Law and Business representation. He worked for several years in the Merrimack Valley area honing his skills. In 2016, he decided to move his professional life closer to home and opened his Marshfield, Massachusetts office.
Attorney Sweeney assists clients in protecting assets with regard to long term care and Medicaid planning and creating estate plans which reduce or eliminate tax liability to the extent possible.
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Lawyer to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of various areas of law, including but not limited to family law, patent law, personal injury law, estate planning, workers compensation law, and environmental law. This role requires excellent negotiation skills and the ability to conduct thorough legal research. The Lawyer will be responsible for representing clients in legal matters, providing sound legal advice, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Duties
- Represent clients in court proceedings and legal negotiations.
- Conduct comprehensive legal research to support case strategies.
- Draft and review legal documents, including contracts, pleadings, and agreements.
- Provide expert advice on family law matters such as divorce and child custody.
- Assist clients with estate planning to ensure their wishes are legally documented.
- Negotiate settlements in personal injury cases and other disputes.
- Stay updated on changes in laws relevant to practice areas such as environmental law and workers compensation law.
- Collaborate with other attorneys and legal professionals to enhance case outcomes.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction.
- Proven experience in one or more areas of law: family law, patent law, personal injury law, estate planning, workers compensation law, or environmental law is preferred.
- Strong legal research skills and the ability to write clearly and persuasively.
- Excellent negotiation skills with a focus on achieving favorable outcomes for clients.
- Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
