Resident Inspector / Field Engineer
Location: Boston/ Cape Cod - Massachusetts | Company: PEER Consultants, P.C.

Were seeking a Resident Inspector / Field Engineer to support municipal and infrastructure projects across multiple disciplines from water and wastewater systems to transportation, utilities, and environmental restoration. In this role, youll be a key on-the-ground contributor ensuring projects are built to the highest standards of quality, safety, and client satisfaction.

What Youll Do

  • Serve as an on-site engineering representative for public infrastructure projects.
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and project documentation, including materials, labor, and compliance records.
  • Participate in client and contractor meetings, providing technical insight and ensuring alignment with design intent and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform engineering analyses, field evaluations, and environmental documentation, using the latest tools and software.
  • Review contractor test results, payment applications, and permit compliance documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to keep projects on track and within scope.
  • Support business development efforts, identifying opportunities and assisting with proposal preparation.

What You Bring

  • Bachelors degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (Masters preferred).
  • 4+ years of relevant field or engineering experience, ideally with underground pipelines, water/wastewater systems, or infrastructure construction.
  • Working knowledge of construction inspection practices, technical reporting, and QA/QC procedures.
  • Proficiency with digital tools used in field engineering and project tracking (tablets, Microsoft Office, CAD a plus).
  • Excellent communication skills able to engage clients, write reports, and collaborate effectively across teams.
  • A valid drivers license and access to a personal vehicle.
  • OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety certification plus.
  • PE or CCM certification a plus; EITs encouraged to apply.
