Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make a meaningful impact by supporting students’ individual learning needs as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a school setting near Methuen, MA. This contract role provides the opportunity to foster independence and confidence in students with visual impairments, using your specialized skills and compassion.
This position offers both full-time and part-time options, with a placement available as soon as possible through mid-June 2026. You will work onsite, collaborating closely with school teams and families to maximize each student’s educational experience.
Key Qualifications:
- Current Massachusetts Department of Education (MA DOE) license for Teachers of the Visually Impaired
- Successful completion of MTELs
- Experience teaching or supporting K-12 students with visual impairments in schools preferred
- Ability to develop and adapt Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on student assessments
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments
- Adapt curriculum materials and classroom environments to promote accessibility
- Collaborate with general and special education staff, related service providers, and families to ensure student success
- Conduct assessments and contribute to IEP development and implementation
- Track student progress and document services accurately
- Assist with orientation and mobility instruction as needed
