Salary: $130k - $170kPosition Summary
The Senior Technical Leader serves as a subject matter expert and senior design authority, leading the technical execution of complex engineering projects. This role combines advanced engineering expertise with leadership responsibilities, overseeing multidisciplinary teams, guiding design decisions, and ensuring high-quality project delivery.
This position may also function in a Senior Project Manager capacity, working directly with clients to define project scope, manage execution, and deliver successful outcomes.Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Project Execution
- Lead the design and technical delivery of large, complex engineering projects
- Serve as the primary technical authority for design concepts, calculations, and system solutions
- Apply advanced knowledge of engineering principles, codes, regulations, and industry standards
- Oversee preparation of drawings, specifications, reports, cost estimates, and technical documentation
- Conduct and lead QA/QC reviews to ensure accuracy, compliance, and quality
- Review and approve design packages, including calculations, equipment selection, and system layouts
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers
Project & Team Leadership
- Direct and coordinate multiple project teams in collaboration with Project Managers
- Assist in defining project scope, budgets, and schedules
- Support resource planning, staff assignments, and workload balancing
- Track project performance, budgets, and timelines using internal tools
- Participate in staff development, mentoring, and performance oversight
- May directly supervise team members or serve in a leadership capacity
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as a key technical liaison for clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders
- Support business development efforts, including presentations and industry events
- Represent the company at conferences, trade shows, and client meetings
- Lead technical discussions and provide solutions to complex client challenges
Design & Engineering Oversight
- Lead development of design concepts, basis of design, and engineering solutions
- Oversee preparation of permit applications, technical memoranda, and reports
- Review and maintain company design standards, templates, and best practices
- Coordinate with sub-consultants and multidisciplinary teams to ensure complete deliverables
Construction & Implementation Support
- Provide technical support during construction, including site visits and troubleshooting
- Review shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, and contractor proposals
- Support resolution of construction issues and change orders
- Assist with startup, commissioning, and system validation activities
- Review QA/QC testing results and ensure compliance with specifications
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- 15+ years of engineering experience, including 10+ years in a technical leadership role
- Strong expertise in engineering design, systems integration, and project execution
- Proven ability to lead complex, multidisciplinary projects
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering software (e.g., Bluebeam, WaterCAD, SewerCAD, HydroCAD, etc. preferred)
- OSHA 10 certification preferred
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Combination of office, field, and site-based work
- Ability to travel to project sites and attend client meetings
- Occasional fieldwork requiring walking, standing, and site inspections

Pay Details: $55.00 to $62.00 per hour
