We are seeking a passionate, detail-oriented Quality Control Supervisor to join our dynamic team! In this pivotal role, you will ensure our products meet the highest quality standards while complying with industry regulations.
The Quality Control Supervisor at Willow Tree Poultry Farm, Inc. has two essential job functions that must be performed simultaneously. Specifically, they ensure:
1. Willow Tree Poultry Farm, Inc., customers receive the quality products they ordered and expect, and that the products meet all customer standards
2. In cooperation with the first function, the Quality Control Supervisor, under the direction of the Quality Control Manager, must ensure that all USDA, SQF, FDA, HACCP, and any other appropriate regulatory standards are met and documented
The Quality Control Supervisor aligns the two essential functions by assuring, maintaining, monitoring, and controlling systems of checks and balances to ensure that Willow Tree Poultry Farm, Inc. provides customers with the quality products they have come to expect at a fair, competitive price.
AUTHORITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY
· Reporting to the Quality Control Manager, via the reporting structure, the QC Supervisor is authorized to delegate portions of this authority as necessary to meet goals and achieve results; the QC Supervisor retains total responsibility and accountability for the results of actions taken or not taken by a delegate
- The QC Supervisor is additionally authorized to sign documents when necessary in the name of the Company with approval of the General Manager – Wholesale and Quality Control Manager
- Under the direction and leadership of the QC Manager, responsible for ensuring the quality of the food products the company produces or receives meets or exceeds the quality standards set, and customers have come to expect
- Enforce quality routines and procedures to ensure operation processes meet all established standards, including but not limited to the accuracy and integrity of inventory
- Ensure document storage and record keeping are appropriately prepared and routed promptly according to set requirements, including those set forth by the USDA, SQF, FDA, HACCP, and other regulatory bodies that impact the industry now and, in the future,
- Help to determine, establish, and enforce standards for Operations that include but are not limited to ensuring all required and appropriate internal controls are established and maintained, safeguarding the assets of Willow Tree Poultry Farm, Inc., and its customers
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
The responsibilities and duties of the Quality Control Supervisor consist of, but are not limited to, the following:
· Assist with the oversight of all quality operations as assigned and required by standards or policy
· Personally accepts accountability for actions taken or not taken
· Scrutinizes, identifies, and inspects key parameters of the company’s product specifications for potential omissions of any items
· Scrutinizes production work for compliance with key company parameters
· Identifies any items of non-compliance, brings them to the attention of the QC Manager, and corrects as well as educates when necessary to prevent future recurrence
· Appropriately shares quality findings with appropriate Management and Production staff
· Ensures all regulatory agency requirements are met (including USDA, SQF, FDA, HACCP, etc), and systems are in place and are being used
· Signs quality reports as required, signifying acceptance of work within approved quality standards and budgetary guidelines
· Helps ensure quality work is produced, recognizing and reporting any variances to the Quality Control Manager, Production Manager, General Manager – Wholesale, and President immediately
· Under the direction of the QC Manager, makes proactive decisions, within levels of authority, communicating clearly and in a timely manner with the QC Manager
· Follows through effectively on all decisions made and directions given by any member of the management leadership team
· Helps coordinate regulatory programs to ensure the company stays in compliance with all regulations, codes, and guidelines, including tracking required reports, compliance logs, quality documents, and forms
· Helps create and implement quality system checks that validate the efficiency of training and safety programs in place
· Takes any reasonable action necessary to carry out the responsibilities of their position, so long as such action is legal, in line with established policies, and is consistent with sound ethical business judgment
· Promotes a positive company image by actively demonstrating how Willow Tree Poultry Farm, Inc. takes quality and service seriously, ensuring they are of the highest possible level appropriate to the situation
· Enthusiastically promotes, encourages, supports, and implements all management decisions, policies, and procedures
· Performs other such duties necessary and/or required by QC Manager or other members of the management leadership team to ensure quality-focused profits and growth are achieved by Willow Tree Poultry Farm, Inc., while sustaining established standards of performance
· Assists in maintaining and promoting communication as needed with all regulatory agencies, including SQF, USDA, FDA, HACCP, and any others not listed but required.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
· The QC Supervisor must have a background and experience in both technical and quality areas of operations in the food production and distribution industries
· The QC Supervisor needs to be a self-starting, detail-oriented person who can identify quality needs and then partner with the management leadership team to initiate and implement results-focused quality programs and controls for all aspects of the company operations
o Strong interpersonal skills to optimize quality output and minimize interruption by the Quality and Regulatory Processes
o Must be able to objectively identify issues, recognize corrective solutions, and work with Operations to train staff on implementing these solutions
o Hands-on, continuous inspection of current products, raw materials, and completed food items to ensure quality standards are met, as well as design and implement new programs as necessary
· The minimum job requirements, representing the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities necessary to meet these requirements, are detailed as follows:
o Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or related field is required, or five plus years experience in Food Production Quality Standards, USDA, SQF, FDA, and HACCP regulations, quality, and engineering, partnered with a willingness to pursue additional training to upgrade their education and/or sharpen any skill deficiencies
o Minimum of two years’ experience as a top-level technician in a food manufacturing and distribution company
o HACCP certified
· The physical demands described here are representative of those that the employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully
o The QC Supervisor will spend prolonged periods of time standing or sitting in offices and production areas, including working in refrigerated production areas for the majority of the day
o Must have a good use of hands and finger dexterity to handle or feel objects, operate various types of equipment
o Ability to lift or move operations supplies and equipment that may exceed 50 pounds, regularly
o Must have command of all five senses: sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste; vision, with traditional correction, must be sufficient to shift in focus from operations lighting in refrigeration areas to office environments
o Fluency in the English Language (read, write, and speak) is required since the majority of our customers, vendors, inspectors, suppliers, and subordinates communicate in that language
o A blend of fiscal prudence, common sense and quality processes is needed to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations; skill and creativity in problem identification, including data collection, analysis, impact determination coupled with the ability to develop valid alternative solutions as well as implement them in a timely manner to limit exposure and safeguard Willow Tree Poultry Farm Inc., its customers and industry in general
o Must be able to maintain sharp focus to assure objectives are met on time, in line with established standards, and on budget; must be able to apply sound business judgment to all decisions
