Tool Manager – Fire Protection Construction
Carlysle Engineering is a leading fire protection construction firm specializing in delivering high-quality, safety-driven solutions for commercial and industrial projects. We are currently seeking a dedicated and highly organized Tool Manager to oversee all aspects of tool, equipment, and vehicle management across our fabrication shop and construction sites.
The Tool Manager plays a critical role in ensuring our projects run efficiently by managing the availability, condition, and safe use of all tools and equipment. This position supports project timelines, promotes cost-effectiveness, and enhances job site safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Inventory Management: Maintain a detailed inventory of tools, equipment, and vehicles. Track location, usage, and condition across all company sites.
- Procurement: Source and acquire tools and equipment that align with project needs and budget requirements.
- Maintenance & Repairs: Coordinate routine maintenance and repairs to ensure all tools and equipment remain in safe, working order while minimizing downtime.
- Tool Crib Management: Develop and manage systems for tool storage, distribution, and return to support easy access and accountability.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce compliance with all safety regulations and company policies regarding tool usage.
- Budget Management: Manage the tool budget by monitoring expenses and identifying opportunities for savings without compromising performance.
- Field Coordination: Collaborate with field supervisors and project managers to anticipate tool needs and promptly address any issues.
- Training & Mentorship: Provide training on proper tool handling and basic maintenance practices to field personnel.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of inventory changes, tool maintenance schedules, and repairs.
- Equipment Evaluation: Regularly assess tool and equipment performance, recommending replacements or upgrades as needed.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Background in construction, equipment management, or a related field (e.g., automotive or mechanical work) with strong familiarity with a wide range of tools and equipment.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to effectively manage inventory systems, track assets, and maintain detailed records.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Strong understanding of tool mechanics and the ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues.
- Communication Skills: Clear and professional communication with team members, vendors, and supervisors.
- Safety Awareness: Strong commitment to safety practices and the ability to enforce safe tool use on all job sites.
- Problem-Solving: Proactive in identifying and resolving logistical or mechanical issues related to tool management.
