We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to serve as the lead technical expert for a small, relationship-focused MSP that supports clients with enterprise-grade infrastructure. In this role, you will own the design, implementation, and escalation support of complex environments across servers, networking, cloud, and security for multiple clients
This position is ideal for a broad, hands-on L3 engineer who enjoys both big-picture architecture and deep troubleshooting. You will lead projects such as server and virtualization upgrades, cloud and M365 migrations, network redesigns, and security improvements, while mentoring junior team members and working directly with business and technical stakeholders. Key Responsibilities:
- Ability to design solutions and perform most of the implementation work, while leading team members.
- Serve as the highest-level escalation point for complex technical issues, providing guidance and support to team members, collaborating with other team members to facilitate resolution.
- Architect solutions with security and regulatory compliance in mind (such as HIPAA, HITRUST, or SOC-related controls), including access control, segmentation, logging, backup, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Produce clear design documentation, diagram, and migration plans that other team members can follow.
- Meet directly with business and technical stakeholder to understand goals, risks, and compliance drivers, then translate them into practical solution design
- Supervise and lead technical team members providing direction, coaching, setting priorities, and addressing workload to ensure quality delivery of technical services.
- Reporting directly to the owner of the company providing timely project reports

Qualifications:
- 15+ years in MSP or multi-tenant IT infrastructure engineering, with ownership of complex projects (migrations, site builds, major upgrades, infrastructure)
- 7+ years in Systems Engineering / Solution Architecture, ideally in an MSP, VAR, or consulting environment
- 8+ years virtualization and storage experience (VMware/Hyper-V/Proxmox equivalents, SAN/NAS)
- 15+ years Strong Windows Server and core services (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, file/print, RDS) design and troubleshooting
- 10+ years strong M365 and common cloud services (identity, Exchange Online, SharePoint/OneDrive, Intune/endpoint management)
- 10+ Deep understanding of network infrastructure (switching, routing, VLANs, QoS, VPNs, firewalls, and network segmentation)
- 10+ Backup/DR and business continuity (image and file backups, recovery testing, RPO/RTO)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with users at all levels of an organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (preferred)
- Proven leadership qualities, including team building, conflict resolution, and process optimization.
- Ability to be on-site at a client in less than 2 hours (Geographically located in New England)
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel in Eastern Massachusetts
- Ability to lift objects of 30 lbs. or more
