A Direct Support Professional (DSP) supports people with a developmental disability or acquired brain disorder to live full and inclusive lives in their community. DSPs help a person develop their strengths, gifts and potential while also helping to remove barriers that could prevent a person reaching their goals. In addition to supporting people with disabilities in community outings, DPSs also help a person make healthy meal choices, assist with household chores and personal care and provide transportation. Qualifications include a strong ethical foundation, dedication, creativity, commitment to building relationships and the ability to work as part of a team.
