Description

American Traveler seeks an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist with CCC-SLP and MBSImP certifications for an inpatient rehab contract at a community hospital in Holyoke, MA.

Details

  • Inpatient rehab unit within a 180-bed community hospital, approximately 90 minutes from Boston, MA
  • Treats adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including stroke and infectious respiratory disease
  • Specializes in dysphagia management including bedside swallow evaluations, International Dysphagia Diet (IDDSI) implementation, modifying diet orders, and thickening agents
  • Average daily census of 15 patients with a 1:15 patient ratio
  • Day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM
  • Every other weekend coverage required, Saturday and Sunday 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
  • On-call responsibilities required
  • Documents using Meditech Expanse; Meditech experience is preferred
  • Unit also utilizes Pyxis medication system and TigerText communication platform
  • Supported by interpretation services, respiratory services, and a unit secretary

Requirements

  • Active ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)
  • Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile (MBSImP) certification required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • MA state SLP license required if applicable
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a licensed SLP
  • Experience in acute care and adult outpatient settings required
  • Community hospital experience required
  • Prior charge experience required
  • Experience with dysphagia assessment and management required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years
  • Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained

Additional Information

  • Conduct bedside swallow evaluations and implement dysphagia diet modifications for adult and geriatric patients
  • Responsible for full documentation cycle including evaluations, plan of care, concurrent therapy documentation, reassessments, and discharge summaries
  • Point-of-service and assessment documentation completed using Meditech Expanse
  • Knowledge of signs and symptoms of physical, sexual, and psychological abuse required for patient safety compliance
  • Works collaboratively within a supportive, multidisciplinary team environment
  • All time-off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration
