Job Summary
The Respiratory / Pulmonary Function Lab Technician supports the operation of the Pulmonary Function Laboratory by performing diagnostic pulmonary testing, assisting with bronchoscopies, maintaining equipment, and providing respiratory care services as needed. The ideal candidate will have experience in pulmonary function testing, strong technical skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Required Qualifications

Board Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) or Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT).

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT).

Active Massachusetts Respiratory Therapy License.

Current BLS Certification.

Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Minimum 1 year of Pulmonary Function Testing experience.

Experience assisting with bronchoscopies.

Experience performing ABG draws and respiratory diagnostic procedures.

Experience with pulmonary function equipment maintenance and calibration.
Responsibilities
-
Perform pulmonary diagnostic studies and pulmonary function testing.
-
Prepare Methacholine solutions for testing procedures.
-
Assist with bronchoscopies throughout the hospital as needed.

Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot pulmonary and bronchoscopy equipment.

Perform ABG draws, sputum specimen collection, and 6-minute walk testing.

Support scheduling activities and patient appointment confirmations.

Complete report reconciliation and ensure results are forwarded to providers.

Maintain accurate documentation and billing records.

Train respiratory therapy staff in pulmonary function testing procedures.

Provide respiratory care services when needed.

Assist with quality improvement initiatives and departmental projects.

Deliver excellent patient care and customer service.
