Job DescriptionSalary:
PURPOSE:
- The Mechanical Quality Inspector is responsible for REXA product quality by ensuring that material channeled through inspection complies with defined requirements and does not enter REXA operations, or is not released for shipment. The ideal candidate shall be a team player, have good communication skills, be thorough, methodical, and detail oriented. This position reports to the Senior Quality Engineer and is responsible for the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure that both supplier provided material/product entering operations or inventory; and manufactured product for shipment meets all design and customer requirements by inspecting and confirming dimensional characteristics, visual / cosmetic attributes, functional requirements and supporting documentation review
- Conduct inspection of parts and packaging utilizing all standard tools and methodologies
- Compare measurement outputs against established design requirements, determines pass/fail, and documents any non-conforming material according to standard practices
- Maintains inspection tooling and equipment to ensure results reliability and repeatability
- Conduct Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) part setup and operation utilizing fixturing and probe calibration
- Develops inspection methods and set-ups
- Develop and use Inspection Sampling Plans with assistance of the QA Manager and QA Engineering
- Provides Inspection guidance and support to Engineering, Supplier Quality, and Suppliers as required
- Originate and maintain all inspection records including vendor inspection reports and certificates as required
- Originate Nonconformance Reports in the Syteline Business System
- Support MRB (Material Review Board) activities
- Perform Liquid Penetrant Inspection to verify weld quality and workmanship
- Performs mechanical calibration of inspection and measurement tools and administers calibration system
- Conduct all responsibilities in compliance with the REXA Quality Management System
- Identifies potential project candidates for continuous improvements and provides project support
- Acts as a mentor for other Inspection team members
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma required
- Associate Degree in related field or certificate from technical school highly preferred.
- ASQ Certified Inspector preferred
- Minimum 2 years-experience inspecting product in an ISO 9001 manufacturing environment
- Liquid Penetrant Level I or Level II Certification / Training to SNT-TC-1A preferred
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Proficient in the use of inspection and measurement hand tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauge, etc.)
- Working level understanding of Metrology concepts including Blueprint layout & GD&T.
- Working level and complex (independent) CMM programming software.
- Ability to read electrical/mechanical diagrams, spec sheets, and outline drawings
- Good communication skills, verbal and written
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to successfully complete multiple tasks within established and changing deadlines
