About the Role:

The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation and safety of building facilities by performing a wide range of repair and maintenance tasks. This position requires a hands-on approach to diagnosing and resolving mechanical, electrical, and structural issues to maintain optimal functionality. The technician will be responsible for preventative maintenance as well as emergency repairs, contributing to the longevity and reliability of equipment and infrastructure. Collaboration with other team members and clear communication with management are essential to prioritize work orders and maintain a safe environment. Ultimately, the Maintenance Technician helps create a well-maintained, efficient, and safe facility that supports the overall operations of the organization.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in maintenance work involving plumbing, electrical wiring, mechanical repair, and carpentry.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments accurately.
  • Physical ability to climb ladders and perform manual labor tasks safely.
  • Good hearing and verbal communication skills to understand instructions and interact with team members.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical certification or vocational training in maintenance, HVAC, or related fields.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs and safety compliance standards.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Additional skills in drywall installation and repair.
  • First aid and OSHA safety training certifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance of plumbing, electrical wiring, mechanical systems, and structural components.
  • Diagnose and repair issues related to mechanical equipment, carpentry, drywall, and other building systems promptly and effectively.
  • Use precision measuring tools to ensure repairs and installations meet required specifications and safety standards.
  • Climb ladders and access confined spaces safely to perform maintenance tasks at various heights and locations within the facility.
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members to report issues, update work progress, and coordinate maintenance schedules.

Skills:

The required skills such as plumbing, electrical wiring, and mechanical repair are essential for diagnosing and fixing a variety of facility issues on a daily basis. Precision measuring ensures that all repairs and installations are performed to exact standards, preventing future malfunctions. Carpentry and drywall skills allow the technician to maintain and restore structural elements of the building effectively. The ability to climb ladders safely is necessary for accessing elevated areas to perform inspections and repairs. Strong communication skills, including the ability to talk and hear clearly, facilitate effective teamwork and ensure that maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
